Powers of Municipalities
(drawn up in accordance with the Code of Municipalities of 3463/2006 Government Gazette 114/30.6.2006 and Law 3852/2010 Government Gazette 87/7.6.2010 Program «Kallikratis»)

1.1 The construction, management and improving the logistical infrastructure of the national system of primary and secondary education, especially as maintenance, cleaning and care of school buildings.

1.2 The establishment and operation of libraries.

1.3 The establishment and operation centers across children.

1.4 The establishment and operation of farm safety education.

1.5 The implementation of policies for the promotion and protection of local culture, the promotion of cultural objects and contemporary cultural works produced locally, creating cultural and spiritual centers, museums, galleries, cinemas and theaters, bands and schools teaching music school dance, painting, sculpture, etc., and the study and implementation of cultural programs.

1.6 The protection of museums, monuments, caves and archaeological and historical sites in the area and the facility.

1.7 Repair, maintenance and utilization of traditional and historic school buildings and buildings that are granted by public or private entities.

1.8 Organising concerts, theater performances and other cultural events or participating in them.

1.9 Promoting cultural exchange at national, European and international level, in accordance with current legislation.

1.10 The development of cultural tourism.

1.27 Stopping courses, grounds of exceptional circumstances or an epidemic within the administrative boundaries of the municipality.

1.28 The granting of permits for the establishment and operation of private musical institutions (conservatories, music schools, choirs, symphony orchestras and chamber music groups) in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 16/1966 (GG 7a).

1.29 The participation of a representative of the municipality in the festival organizing committee of local business.

1.30 The grant players involved in cultural activities in the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality and those who contribute to tourism development and promotion of, by decision of the municipal council by a majority of two thirds (2/3) of its members.

1.31 The supervising the National Sports Centre, established by decision of the Minister, Interior, Culture and Tourism. With this decision, issued after consulting the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, within one year of the publication of this, specifying in particular the National Sports Centres, in line with the relevant municipalities, specifying the matters referred to in supervision and any relevant technical, detailed and procedural issue.
